Reece awash with innovation

Reece makes AFR Most Innovative Companies list.

Last night, Reece was recognised as third on the AFR Most Innovative Companies Property and Construction list for its innovation process and culture as well as development of tradie networking app, goodwork.

The awards drew in applications from over 800 esteemed companies across Australia and this is the first time organisations have been ranked against their peers across ten industry lists.

CEO Peter Wilson says innovation has been part of the Reece DNA for decades and the whole business gets involved.

“It’s built into our business rhythms; we support collaboration through our technology and ways of working; we train and engage all of our people in our innovation processes; and empower them to solve business problems big and small every day.”

The award judged Reece’s overall approach to innovation, via an employee survey and assessment of its innovation process – a toolkit created by NEXT, the business’ internal innovation arm at the forefront of tradie insight.

Innovation Leader Carlo Tarquino was humbled to accept the award on behalf of the team.

“We’re obsessed about understanding the current and future needs of tradies, so we can turn this insight into solutions that will help our customers succeed,” he said.

“It’s been fantastic to see our 5000 people learn and embrace having an innovation mindset and using this new capability to enhance our business and the customer experience.”

Founder of Inventium Dr Amantha Imber said the organisation is thrilled to announce the first ever industry specific Most Innovative Companies List.

“What separated the most innovative organisations from the least, was the involvement of the customer the entire way through the innovation process,” she said.

“Leading innovators also had strong mechanisms in place to recognise the innovation efforts of their staff."

The prestigious annual list, published by The Australian Financial Review and Boss Magazine, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading innovation consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges.

This is the third award in the last twelve months recognising Reece for innovation, with the team winning the award for Best Cross-functional Collaboration at Workplace by Facebook Transform ANZ in July; and Best Solution to a Manual Handling Issue at the Worksafe Awards in October last year.

Based in Burwood, Reece will move to new state-of-the-art headquarters in Cremorne, the tech hub of Melbourne, in 2020.
